THE GARDENS
4 SEPARATE GARDENS, FOR 4 DIFFERENT NEEDS
THE DISPLAY GARDEN
The display garden is the centerpiece of Pepper King Gardens. It consists of about 80 plants, all strategically located according to size, shape, and color. Taller ones in back, big and bushy in the center, and small but majestic up front. Reds and Blacks in the back, lighter rainbow colors throughout the front. Large Ajis on the corners, massive Thai plants rounding out the ends. That kind of garden. I generally don't harvest these plants until the end, in order to keep the painting alive.
THE WORKHORSE GARDEN
The workhorse garden is where I get my weight and heat. These are mostly the tried and true varieties that I have had success with here in the Pacific Northwest. Short growing season with high yields. This year I'm going with the Big Bang Space Pepper and the Bulgarian Carrot for the majority of the harvest, but there's another 20 or so varieties in there as well.
THE REAPER GARDEN
This is one of my raised bed gardens, with only Carolina Reapers growing in it. There's about 15 plants, about half from seeds and half from store bought plants, and there is no discernible difference. They are all big, beautiful, and healthy, with tons off pods on each plant. There's actually a lot of more interesting and hotter peppers than the Reaper, but they're sort of the American flag of the the superhots, so they get their own garden.
THE EXTREME CROSSES GARDEN
This raised bed garden is where I plant my crazy crosses and oddball peppers. Lots of THIS X THAT, and really who knows what Frankenstein peppers will come from this garden.
ASSORTED PEPPER PLANTS
Just some of the beautiful plants!
